Todays manicure started out with Sally Hansen’s Big Smoky Topcoat as the main focus. I picked this up a short while ago and was pretty excited to try it out. As it turns out I was very disappointed in the way it turned out. I’ll put a picture here and show you why.
This started out as an awesome loose glitter and “lace” manicure. It looked so good until I added the smoky topcoat over top of OPI Alpine Snow. Its so streaky and uneven. I feel like it pretty much ruined what I had going. I’m not really sure what I expected from this topcoat but it definitely wasn’t this. I think maybe I’ll try it over a few more colors and see if I can make it work. It may even look better on its own. I’m thinking I expected it to be more like the OPI sheers that came out a while ago. Oh well. I ended up taking it off and redoing the white on its own and it turned out great!
I love it with just the white! Much much better. For the lace I used a Sally Hansen nail art pen and drew a few half circles and lines to create this look overtop of Sinful Colors Unicorn. For the glitter accent nail I just applied two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black and then used a dotting tool to place the individual glitter. I love how the black polish makes the glitter look greenish-blue. Then I topped it off with Seche Vite fast drying topcoat. Here’s one more look at this super cool and easy to create manicure.
Have any of you ever used the smoky topcoat? Do you like it? If you have any ideas how to use it other than layering it over white let me know! Hope you like this weeks look. Leave me a comment below! I’d love to hear from you!
